This design has been inspired by the tongue (arero) of the Taiaha (spear). The Taiaha is a traditional Maori weapon, frequently used in battle, and often used to 'wero' (challenge) the opposition. The protruding tongue is a symbol of great defiance. It draws on inner strength to challenge and move you beyond what you thought was possible.
